This feature was quietly rolled out a while ago, and has since gained appreciation on social media.

“As a woman, these small efforts definitely make a difference while choosing to ride. Good initiative from Rapido,” a user wrote on social media.

Another wrote: “Not every good update needs a big announcement. Sometimes the most helpful people speak for themselves.”

Many users said that such features contribute to more comprehensive and reliable urban mobility.

“Better mobility experiences encourage women to achieve their ambitions without restrictions. Reliable transportation is an important step towards creating more inclusive and empowered communities,” one user said.

Another reaction read: “Better experiences don’t happen by accident. Good to see Rapido investing in them.”

“Convenient travel options make cities more inclusive. Every positive initiative for women matters,” another user wrote.

The option allows selection based on trips categorized for women

The feature appears within the Rapido app alongside existing options such as Bike Direct, Scooty Direct, Auto and Auto Priority. Users can select the “Bike Rating by Women” option after entering the pick and drop details.

The feature comes amid “horrific” experiences.

The introduction of this feature comes amid ongoing conversations about women’s safety on passenger transport platforms.

In May this year, a Rapido taxi driver was arrested in Gurugram after he was accused of masturbating in front of a female passenger during the ride. The incident came to light after the woman recorded the alleged act and shared the video.

In another case reported in Bengaluru, a woman accused a Rapido taxi driver of sexually harassing her while riding in November. The allegation came to light after she detailed her experience on social media, drawing responses from Bengaluru Police and Rapido.

While it remains unclear whether the new feature has been introduced in response to such incidents, it has been largely welcomed by users as an extra layer of reassurance for women using bike taxi services. Rapido is yet to issue an official statement regarding the offering.
