The Air India flight took a wrong turn

that The Air India A320 (VT-TQV), operating flight AI2493 from Mumbai to Ahmedabad, landed safely on runway 23 in the evening. After landing, you are approved to move (taxi) towards the international parking lot using a designated route – Corridor C, then Corridor G.

Instead of turning right onto Taxiway G, the aircraft continued straight onto Taxiway P, which was not the intended route. Realizing, the crew immediately stopped the plane on route P.

An IndiGo flight is already on the same corridor

Around the same time, an IndiGo A320 (VT-IST), operating flight 6E 5160 from Ahmedabad to Mumbai, was already moving on Taxiway P for departure.

Since the Air India plane mistakenly entered the same taxiway, the two planes ended up facing each other at a distance on the P taxiway.

The two planes stopped immediately. The Air India plane was later towed to the correct parking lot.

What did the airlines say?

In a statement, Air India said its flight unintentionally took a wrong turn during taxiing, adding that there was no compromise on the safety of passengers and crew. “We are aware of an incident where our flight AI2493 operating from Mumbai to Ahmedabad on June 24 after landing inadvertently took a wrong turn while boarding a taxi. There was no compromise on the safety of passengers and crew,” the airline said.

An IndiGo spokesperson said: “IndiGo flight 6E 5160, which was scheduled to operate from Ahmedabad to Mumbai on June 24, 2026, was briefly delayed while taxiing for departure after another airline’s aircraft inadvertently took an incorrect turn and got into the path of our aircraft. Both aircraft stopped at a safe distance from each other.”

“The other aircraft was subsequently withdrawn and our flight departed and landed safely at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai.
