‘Dharman’ director Ashwath Marimuthu hints at Rajinikanth’s role in the film; He rejects the “five rupee doctor” theory.

The director describes ‘Dharman’ as a family thriller
Director Ashwath Marimuthu explained the basic structure of the film during the launch event. Darman described it as a family-focused thriller with strong entertainment elements.As reported by India Today, he also denied early speculations that the film would be based on the ‘5 Rupees Doctor’ concept. Instead, he noted, the story is built around a larger-than-life character set in a commercial cinematic setting.
A combination of mass appeal and investigative style
Ashwath also explained that ‘Dharman’ will combine ensemble storytelling with elements of investigative drama. He compared the tone of the film to two popular Tamil films.The film is expected to feature a strong hero-driven story while also blending action-driven sequences.According to the director, Rajinikanth is not playing a character based on the real-life inspiration of the widely discussed film ‘5 Rupees Doctor’.

During the launch, Ashwath also spoke about his interaction with Rajinikanth and the collaborative nature of the project. When I met Mr #Rajinikanth he said ‘We must win at all costs, we are doing it with RKFI. Consider me your assistant, I will tell my suggestion to #Dharman, you can accept it or ignore it.”
