‘Date set’: When Samantha Ruth Prabhu talks about planning motherhood with Naga Chaitanya

Samantha Ruth Prabhu has been in the news for multiple reasons recently. While her latest release ‘Maa Inti Bangaram’ has received a positive response, the actress has also found herself at the center of fresh pregnancy speculation.

The rumors gained momentum after videos from her recent celebration with her director husband Raj Nidimoru surfaced online. Although the couple has remained mum on the matter, the discussion has prompted fans to reconsider some of Samantha’s previous comments about becoming a mother.

Samantha once talked about family planning

As SCREEN reported, years before her current marriage, Samantha spoke openly about her hopes of starting a family. In 2018, soon after she tied the knot with actor Naga Chaitanya, she was repeatedly asked about motherhood and future plans.

During one such interaction, the actress revealed that she and Chaitanya have already discussed a timeline for welcoming their first child.“The date has been fixed! As if this will happen according to the date we have fixed! But Chai (Naga Chaitanya) seems sure that it will happen on the fixed date!”, Samantha said while addressing the issue with humor. She also added, “But we’ve definitely set the timeline in terms of when we want to have a baby.”

During the same conversation, Samantha explained that having a child would dramatically change her career priorities. The actress admitted that she envisioned devoting herself entirely to motherhood during the first years of her child’s life.“When I have a child, that child will be my world. I had great respect for working mothers. My childhood was not very rosy. For all the adults, who did not have a very rosy childhood, the first thing they will tell you is that they want to give their children everything they did not have.”

This is something that stuck with me. So I think for the first few years after I have a baby, I’m going to be nowhere. “This baby will be everything to me,” she said.

ShakuntalamIt was supposed to be her last film before the break

A few years later, while promoting ‘Shaakuntalam’, producer Neelima Guna recalled a conversation that shed more light on Samantha’s plans at that time. According to her, the actress requested that filming be completed within a specific schedule as she intends to focus on family life after that.“Last year itself, when my father, director Gunasekhar garu, and I approached Samantha for Shaakuntalam, she loved the story and was very excited about it, but she told us that if she accepted the role, the shooting should be completed by July/August max this year. She informed me that she was planning to start a family and that she wanted to become a mother and that would be her priority,” revealed Neelima. The producer also explained that Samantha was initially looking at ‘Shaakuntalam’ as her last project before she took a long break from acting.

The team reportedly adjusted their schedules to accommodate her plans.“As soon as she heard that, she was very happy and joined this film. She told me that this would be her last film and after that she wanted to take a long break, have children and plan her family. From the schedules too, we never took a break because we wanted to fulfill this demand on her part,” Neelima added. However, life developed differently. Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya separated in 2021 after four years of marriage. Chaitanya later married the actress
