A man travels to a remote Greek island to claim his late father’s inheritance in a personal and emotional odyssey Almost a complete person (Ines Olocleros Anthropos Shedon), the first feature film by Greek-German director Efthymis Kosmond Sanidis.

The film has its world premiere in Proxima Competition of the 60th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), taking place in the Czech spa town from July 3-11.

Co-written by Elisambita Elijah Georgiadou, the film features cinematography by Christos Fodoris and editing by Livia Nirosopoulou. Anastasis Georgulas and Flumaria papadaki (animal) stars in a co-production of Greece, Bulgaria, Germany, Cyprus and Romania. The film is produced by Horsefly Films in co-production with Red Carpet, Wunderlust, Felony Film, Tangaj Production, ZDF/Das Kleine Fernsehspiel, ARTE, ERT, Onassis Culture, Faliro House Productions and Panta Rhei.

Elias arrives on the aforementioned remote island to obtain his late father’s inheritance. “But the longer he had to stay on the island, the more his initial indifference began to fade,” the summary read. “As he interacts with the local community, he uncovers his father’s past, and with it the image of a man that differs greatly from his memories.”

His awakened feelings gradually intensify when he meets the local girl Calliope and experiences “sudden convulsions in his body and a mysterious blackout that affects the entire island.”

KVIFF’s website promises “a tender portrait of a world both real and mystical — a place where, despite distant echoes that herald the potential end of the world, we encounter unexpected love, reconciliation, and understanding.”
