The child actor 'Taare Zameen Par' who played the role of Yohaan Awasthi is now a dentist and a pilot in the UK, and this is what he looks like now

When Taare Zameen Par was released in 2007, it did much more than just entertain audiences. The film, directed by Aamir Khan, sparked discussions about parenting, the pressures of the education system, and the realities faced by children with learning difficulties. She also introduced viewers to two talented child artists, Darsheel Safari and Muhandis Al-Kis. While Darshiel remained associated with the acting world, Satchet quietly shied away from the limelight.

Nearly 20 years later, the actor who played Ishaan Awasthi’s caring elder brother has built a completely different career path as a dentist in the UK, and is now pursuing his passion for aviation as well.In the film, Sachet played the role of Johan Nandkishore Awasthi, an academically gifted elder brother who excelled in studies and sports while standing firm by Ishaan’s side. As it turns out, the actor’s real-life journey reflects some of those qualities.

Instead of continuing in the entertainment industry, he chose to focus on academics and professional growth.According to his LinkedIn profile, Sachet holds an M.Clin.Dent degree in Periodontology from the renowned UCL Eastman Dental Institute in London. He is also a registered member of the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and has successfully passed both parts of the Overseas Registration Examination (ORE), qualifying him to practice dentistry in the UK.

Before moving abroad, he graduated from DY Patel University, where he received a gold medal in periodontology. But his ambitions extend beyond dentistry.Although his Instagram profile remains private, occasional posts offer glimpses into his life. In 2024, Sachet revealed his interest in aviation by sharing a photo from the cockpit of a plane. Reflecting on this experience, he wrote: “Control here at the top reduces the most formidable challenges below to insignificance.

A true reminder that the horizon is endless, and so are the possibilities. My first trip, but certainly not my last.

Although he became a familiar face after the success of Taare Zameen Par, Sachet maintains that acting was never a carefully planned career choice. In 2022, in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, he revealed how he got the role unexpectedly.“I come from a film family. My grandmother Krishna Kumari Seth was an actress while my grandfather Suraj Prakash was a producer.

So I was always surrounded by the world of films, even though I did not plan to enter this field. The filmmakers were originally auditioning my younger brother. I happened to be there and they asked me, “Why don’t you also audition?” I did, and a month later I got a call. I was 11 years old at the time. The film’s popularity brought him instant fame, but he chose not to capitalize on it by signing more films.“People started recognizing me on the streets. I was just smiling.

I’m a little older, but people can still guess. Or they feel like they’ve seen me somewhere. I did some commercials later. “I received some film offers but I did not accept them because I wanted to continue my studies before I deviated from the path,” he said.Interestingly, Satchet hasn’t completely ruled out a return to acting. In the same interview, he expressed his interest in returning to the profession after completing his studies. However, four years later, there was no sign of his return, with his focus seemingly remaining on dentistry and aviation.
