Red and orange alerts in parts of Delhi; IMD expects more rain and severe thunderstorms

The Delhi-NCR is likely to witness more rain on Tuesday, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts in parts of the Delhi-NCR.

The IMD forecast showed a ‘severe thunderstorm’ with light to moderate rainfall over parts of central Delhi, New Delhi, southwest Delhi, west Delhi, west Delhi, northwest Delhi and north Delhi, with wind speeds reaching 80-100 kmph.

Likewise, light to moderate rain with moderate thunderstorm and lightning is expected over parts of South East Delhi, East Delhi, Shahdara, Central Delhi, North East Delhi, South Delhi, New Delhi, South West Delhi, West Delhi, North West Delhi, North Delhi.

Light rain and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are expected in parts of north Delhi, the IMD said in its new alert on Tuesday. Winds of up to 90 km per hour are expected to lash parts of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan, excluding the entire Delhi NCR, in the next two hours.
