Bangladesh High Commissioner to India, Riaz Hamidullah, was present at the airport and introduced Rehman to the immigration authorities. Indian officials were also informed in advance of his role as head of the Bangladeshi delegation, the report added.

He did not continue his visit

After waiting for more than two-and-a-half hours, Rahman decided not to go ahead with his scheduled visit and informed officials that he would return to Dhaka, BSS said. Although Indian officials later said the case could be resolved and asked him to continue his travel, he decided not to enter India. Travel across Columbo and returned home.

Passport issue

He was traveling on an ordinary Bangladeshi passport with a SAARC visa sticker and did not have a diplomatic passport, so he had to undergo normal immigration checks. Reports say the delay occurred after his name appeared on a security watch list during a routine check, possibly due to a technical error or database error.
