Vaibhav Suryavanshi (X-Cricbuzz)
Another disappointing outing for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi as the teenage batting sensation once again failed to convert a promising start into a big result in the ongoing Tri-Nation series.Representing India A against Sri Lanka A in the fourth match of the tournament, the 15-year-old looked in good form early on after Sri Lanka A won the toss and elected to bowl first. Sooryavanshi raced to 21 off just 14 balls, hitting three fours and a six, before throwing the wicket away while attempting another attacking shot. The expulsion came thanks to Sahan Arashchiji, who lured the young man into a car outside the trunk.
The ball moved slightly away, past the outside edge and headed towards the point, where Wanoja Sahan completed a neat shot.
In Match 1 against Sri Lanka A on 9 June 2026, he made his debut for India A and with a strong start, smashed three boundaries against Mohammad Shiraz and Shamika Karunaratne. However, his stay lasted only 12 births. While trying to lift the ball up the pitch, he failed to reach the required height, allowing Sri Lankan captain Sahan Arashchiji to deliver a stunning catch.
In Match 2 against Afghanistan A on 11 June 2026, after a poor score in the opener, Suryavanshi bounced back with an entertaining knock of 44 off 22 balls. Batting at a batting average of 200, he hit nine boundaries and looked set for a half-century before falling to Abdullah Ahmadzai. The young opener was caught by wicket-keeper Ishaq Rahimi. A familiar pattern emergesThroughout the tournament, Sooryavanshi showed gritty style of play.
However, scores of 14, 44 and 21 confirm a growing pattern, fast starts full of boundaries but no major turnaround.
