President Donald Trump has released a special-edition coin bearing his own image to mark his 80th birthday, as part of a licensing deal between his family and the UFC that has sparked new scrutiny over the MAGA Supremeo’s business dealings. The “Freedom 250” medals, which are sold as silver and gold versions on a website called “Trump Coins,” range in price from about $250 to nearly $12,000. The pricier option comes with a stand featuring images of Trump and UFC President Dana White. The site also claims over 1,000 five-star reviews.

Pricing places products well above the value of their base metal content, a common feature of commemorative collectibles marketed to political supporters and brand loyalists. The Trump Organization only licenses the President’s brand of coins, not manufactures or sells them directly. But the collaboration fits a familiar pattern: Trump’s sons, Eric and Donald Trump Jr., have previously put their names on phones, perfumes, cryptocurrency and golf courses, raising questions about how the family benefits from the presidency. The coin’s website asserts that it sells “the only officially licensed Donald J. Trump medals on the market,” warning that other products bearing the Trump logo “may be illegal” and have “no actual connection” to the president.

When asked about Trump’s role in designing and marketing the coins, White House spokesman Davis Engel rejected any suggestion of a conflict of interest.“Fake news’s continued attempts to create conflicts of interest are irresponsible,” Engel said, adding that Trump “only acts in the best interests of the American people.”The Trump Organization did not respond to CNN’s request for comment. The launch of the currency comes as a precedent for the UFC fight that Trump planned and was promoting on the occasion of his birthday in the White House.

He even personally supervised the construction of a massive staging area on the South Lawn called “The Claw.”Two Virginia residents filed a lawsuit seeking to cancel the event, arguing that it was less about celebrating America’s 250th anniversary and more about enriching Trump and White. A federal judge gave the administration until Tuesday evening to respond.
