Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed his happiness at meeting French President Emmanuel Macron as part of his visit to Nice, where the two leaders inaugurated the ‘Bharat Innovates 2026’ meeting.

Speaking to X, Prime Minister Modi praised the meeting in Nice and said he looked forward to their meetings in Evian and Paris. Prime Minister Modi, Macron and world leaders will attend the G7 summit in Evian.
“Nice to meet you in Nice. The first stop was indeed fruitful. The India-France partnership will continue to rise to new heights,” Prime Minister Modi said in a post on X, adding: “See you in Evian and Paris.”
The Prime Minister’s remarks came in response to French President Macron’s social media post, where he shared a selfie with Modi. The French leader wrote a comment: “Nice!”
In an earlier post, Prime Minister Modi referred to the French President as his friend even as he praised the close bilateral ties.
“I am grateful to my friend President Macron for participating in the ‘Bharat Innovates’ programme. He shared valuable points during his speech earlier today. India and France will continue to work closely when it comes to technology and innovation,” Prime Minister Modi said.
While inaugurating the Bharat Innovates 2026 meeting in Nice, the Prime Minister said that India and France have a common connection, conviction, innovation, inspiration and vision. During the event, the two leaders greeted each other with hugs and handshakes during their meeting.
“There are some relationships that are driven by a common vision, along with a common interest. The relationship between France and India is like that. In this relationship, there is connection as well as conviction. In this relationship, there is innovation and inspiration. In this relationship, there are common values and a common vision,” Prime Minister Modi said at the inauguration ceremony.
On the current tour, Modi will also attend the G7 summit, where he is scheduled to meet US President Trump and other world leaders.
