The action came in the wake of an investigation into the June 11 incident, when a power outage at the state BJP headquarters interrupted Vaishnau’s media interaction.
The minister was forced to address journalists in the dark for about 10 minutes after the power went out three times.
The power department and the state government have faced criticism over the outage caused by tripping at the 400 kV grid substation in Hirapura.
Taking the incident seriously, Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar appointed a three-member committee to investigate the matter and submit a report.
Based on the findings, Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited (RVPNL) has suspended assistant engineer Vipin Verma and electrician Babu Singh, both working at Hirapura substation, with immediate effect, officials said.
The power company also issued a charge sheet to supervising engineer R B Gupta, seeking an explanation for the incident.
“The disciplinary action was taken after the investigation report found lapses in handling of electricity infrastructure that led to power outages,” an official said.
