Director Chidambaram’s upcoming film ‘Balan: The Boy’ is all set to hit theaters on June 19. The project is generating great buzz among audiences, especially after the great success the director achieved with Manjummel Boys.The thriller received another boost after veteran director Priyadarshan shared his thoughts during a team interaction organized by Cue Studio.
Priyadarshan calls ‘Balan’ the best film he has seen in the last two years
During the interaction, Priyadarshan did not hold back in his admiration for the project. He described Balan as one of the best films he had seen in recent years, and predicted that the film would have a lasting legacy.“I think this is the best movie I’ve seen in the last two years,” he said.
“Balan will forever be remembered as one of the greatest Malayalam films,” the ‘Bhooth Bangla’ director added.Priyadarshan also spoke about the importance of writing the film and acknowledged the contribution of the entire crew.“A great film comes together naturally. Even though Chidambaram is the captain of the ship, every crew member has done a fantastic job. The script is the backbone of any film, and Balan has an excellent script,” he said.
Despite its slow pace, the film remains consistently engaging. “I don’t know how I was able to pull it off so effectively.”

Priyadarshan is not the only director to praise the project. Earlier this year, director Ram Gopal Varma shared his reaction after watching a preview clip of the film.RGV posted a picture with Chidambaram on social media and wrote, “I’m with #Chidambaram, the BLOCKBUSTER director of #ManjummelBoys.

Strong creative team behind “Balan”
‘Balan: The Boy’ features a script written by Jeethu Madhavan, the director behind the hit Malayalam films ‘Romancham’ and ‘Aavesham’.The film also brings together several technicians who worked on Manjummel Boys. The crew includes music composer Sushin Shyam, cinematographer Shiju Khalid, production designer Ajayan Chalesiri and editor Vivek Harshan.Actor Tovino Thomas is also expected to make a special appearance in the film.
