'I have nothing against this man': Kangana Ranaut breaks silence on her equation with Diljit Dosanjh ahead of their films' box office clash

Kangana Ranaut has broken her silence on her equation with Diljit Dosanjh, saying that she has nothing against him and that the two have never met. The duo had a public altercation during the 2020-2021 farmers’ protests. Their films ‘Bharat Bhaagya Viddhaata’ and ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ opened to around Rs 1 crore.

Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Bharat Bhaagya Viddhaata’ and Diljit Dosanjh’s ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’ hit theaters on Friday, June 12, 2026, and the two films are off to a remarkably similar start at the box office. Amidst all the buzz surrounding their release, Kangana recently broke her silence in an interview and spoke about her relationship with Diljit.

In a candid conversation with NDTV, Kangana put aside all the speculations about her rivalry with Diljit and made it clear that there is no ill-will between them. She said: “We are not against each other. We just had opposing opinions about a particular event. I have nothing against this man. We have never met in life.” When asked if she would be ready to meet Diljit one day, Kangana didn’t hesitate and said, “Why not?” She then pushed the interviewer further, asking her if she would go so far as to message Diljit to compliment him if she enjoyed his performance in Main Vaapas Aaunga, to which the actress burst into laughter and said, “That’s too much, isn’t it?”

How did the feud between Kangana Ranaut and Diljit Dosanjh start?

The tension between Kangana and Diljit dates back to the 2020-2021 farmer protests in India, when the two got into a heated public spat on social media. The controversy erupted after Kangana shared a tweet falsely claiming that elderly protester from Punjab, Mahender Kaur, was actually Bilkis Bano, the well-known ‘daddy’ of the anti-CAA Shaheen Bagh protests.

Diljit wasted no time in calling out Kangana on X (formerly Twitter) after her tweet, and even shared a video interview as proof that the woman in question was indeed Mahinder Kaur, a real farmer.

The exchange soon escalated into an all-out war of words on stage, with Kangana going as far as calling Diljit ‘Karan Johar’s shamcha’. However, it seems that Kangana has now decided to leave the past behind her and move forward.

Both films were warmly received by critics and generated positive word of mouth among audiences.
