The accident occurred at around 7.20 pm on Thursday when the Swarn Shatabdi Express train from Kanpur to Delhi was passing through Firozabad district and through Makhanpur station without stopping when a stone hit the glass window of the E-1 coach of the express train and the glass was damaged.

The train was stopped at Tondla Outer Junction after information and officials arrived.

Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh Sarsangchalak Mohan Bhagwat was in the same vehicle on which the stone was pelted, damaging the window glass. “Bhagwat was sitting on the other side of the bus and was safe and no one was injured,” said GRB Inspector B Singh.

The train departed at 7.41 pm for Delhi from Tondla.

Senior police officials, including SP City Ravi Shankar Prasad of Firozabad, reached the spot near Pemeshwar Railway Gate and CCTV footage was sought to trace those involved.
