Live updates of CJP protest news: The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Thursday announced the launch of a nationwide protest campaign against alleged irregularities in examinations, as part of which, a protest will be organized in Pune today at 4 pm. The CJP also renewed its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Addressing a press conference in Pune, CJP founder Abhijit Debki said the organization would issue its educational statement later in the day, coinciding with the start of the nationwide agitation from the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus.
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is also expected to participate in the protest, which Debaki said will be conducted peacefully.
“We have started our nationwide protest from today at SSPU. The protest will be peaceful and within the framework of the Constitution. Today, we will issue our educational statement,” news agency PTI quoted him as saying.
Focus on examination reforms
According to Debke, the statement lays out a series of reforms aimed at addressing long-standing concerns raised by students.
“The statement focuses on preventing leakage of question papers, ensuring timely announcement of examination results, improving transparency in recruitment and admission examinations, enhancing accountability of examination authorities, and addressing problems faced by students due to delays and irregularities in conducting examinations,” he said.
The proposed measures come amid growing concerns over alleged paper leaks, delayed results and irregularities in recruitment and competitive examinations across the country.
A march that starts from Pune and culminates in Delhi
Debke said the campaign will start in Pune before traveling to several cities, including Jaipur, Lucknow, Amritsar and Bengaluru. The movement is expected to reach its peak at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on June 20.
He reiterated the group’s demand, saying that the campaign would continue until the Minister of Education stepped down.
He added, “We will not return until we obtain the resignation of the Minister of Education who is responsible for endangering the future of more than a million students.”
