Sutapa Sikdar, wife of late actor Irrfan Khan, has publicly rejected comedian Praneet More’s apology over a viral clip in which an audience member made a misogynistic remark about expecting a “return” after spending Rs 370 on biryani for a woman, a comment that was laughed at by more before he later expressed remorse.

Sutapa Sikdar responded sharply

On Wednesday, Sutapa Sikdar took to social media to clarify her stance. She reposted a screenshot of Moore’s apology along with data and statistics on rape cases in India, and asked a pointed question in her comment: “Should women forgive? Always? Why?”She didn’t hold back in her assessment of Moore’s behavior, writing: “Sorry?? After having fun like joking around to get more laughs from more perverts in the audience? We don’t accept your apology; if we do nothing it won’t change (sic).”

A viral clip of Praneet Moore’s stance and backlash

The controversy erupted after a clip from Praneet More’s comedy show went viral, showing audience member Himanshu Jangra saying that spending Rs 370 on chicken biryani for a woman would entitle him to a “return” on investment. This statement sparked widespread criticism online due to its misogynistic undertones. Moore, who laughed at the comment during the live show, then faced backlash from fans and public figures alike.

Praneet Moore Public apology

Praneet More, who also appeared as a contestant on Bigg Boss 19, posted a public apology on his Instagram stories. He admitted that the public’s comments did not represent his point of view and acknowledged the failure of governance at the present time.“I saw the criticism regarding a recent fan clip. The comments made by the fan did not reflect my point of view. Looking back, I should have challenged the remark instead of laughing and moving on.

“It was an error in judgment on my part.”He also confirmed that the video had been removed from all platforms to avoid amplifying or normalizing such views and respectfully thanked those who raised concerns.As the controversy continued to escalate, Moore appeared to deactivate his Instagram account.
