Candace Owens says she is intensifying her Freedom of Information Act fight over a controversial White House Correspondents’ Dinner email in which she allegedly called Erica Kirk a “sentimental asset” shortly after the shooting. Owens claimed that government departments initially rejected her request as too broad, prompting her team to submit a narrower version with specific names and dates. She also accused Andrew Colvet and others of misleading the public, insisting that the leaked email was real and would eventually be verified.

Candace Owens says her fight to obtain records linked to the controversial White House Correspondents’ Dinner email is far from over. In a recent YouTube episode, the political commentator claimed that federal agencies are opposing FOIA requests linked to an internal email referring to Erika Kirk as a “sentimental asset” shortly after a shooting linked to the WHCD controversy.Owens said the response from government departments only reinforced her doubts. She said officials first forwarded her request before later claiming the search was too extensive to complete. The update has reignited online debate over the authenticity of the leaked email and the people allegedly connected to it.

During the episode, Owens directly accused media personality Andrew Colvitt of avoiding direct statements while allowing others to publicly defend him.“It’s very clear that Andrew Colvet is advised to lie by omission or to bring in people who want to lie outright, like Graham Allen,” Owens said.It also revisited criticism surrounding a leaked White House Correspondents’ Dinner email that some online personalities allegedly called fake. Owens insisted that she remained confident in the authenticity of the document and claimed that a final response to the FOIA would support her position.

“Andrew Colvet knows this email is not fake, and when we receive our formal FOIA response about the email, Andrew Colvet will look like a liar,” she said.Owens then explained how her team initially submitted broad requests before narrowing the search after receiving resistance from the War Department. By her account, officials argued that the request would require searching across multiple departments and was too cumbersome. That response didn’t stop her team. They quickly followed up with more detailed information, including the names, dates and specific email recipients associated with the alleged correspondence, Owens said.

Erica Kirk’s controversy sparked controversy online after Candace Owens’ update

One of the biggest talking points of the episode focused on Owens’ claim that officials were more focused on managing the emotional public reaction rather than discussing safety concerns after the accident.“We told you that Erica Kirk in that email was described as having sentimental value,” Owens said.

“This was about an hour after the shooting when the main concern should have been safety.”She also alleged that people within the department wanted to promote a specific video involving Kirk online. “They wanted this video to be the number one video by the morning,” Owens claimed. The comments spread quickly across social media platforms, with supporters praising Owens for continuing to pursue records while critics questioned the broader claims surrounding the controversy.Owens also revealed that her team has amended the request to include “any and all email correspondence related to Erika Kirk and the White House Correspondents’ Center shooting,” which is limited to specific staff and a specific time frame.Currently, the dispute remains unresolved. But Owens made one thing clear throughout the episode. She has no intention of backing down from the fight over records that she believes could reveal what was happening behind closed doors.
