Joe Swash recently participated in the popular program “Who Do You Think You Are?” , which helps people return to their ancestors. While filming the episode, the actor ended up getting emotional about his results, which revealed surprising details about his ancestry.
Joe Swash became emotional after the parentage test
Swash intended to find out more details about his father’s side of the family when he joined the show. He appears in the video filming the movie “Who Do You Think You Are?” , the ‘EastEnders’ star was seen getting emotional over the revelations.While talking about his family and how things were in the past, the actor shared, “For me, the past was something I didn’t avoid, but I didn’t have any interest in it.
I lost my father when I was very young. He was very young, only 39, and I was only 12.He also added how he was dealing with the grief of losing his father at such a young age, noting that a lot of things in the house changed a lot of what he passed on. He added: “When my father was alive, my house was full of life and laughter, and then when my father died, for a long time, it was a house full of sadness and sorrow. A lot of times he was just trying to get through that period.”
In the show, he aimed to learn more about where his father came from, which also included a possible connection to the Italian mafia. After taking the test, he discovered that there was a connection between his great-grandfather and Sylvia Pankhurst. She was a well-known feminist, socialist, and anti-fascist activist during the 1880s. Through testing, he discovered that his father was an active activist of his time and was heavily involved in the communist labor movement that was going on at the time.
How did Joe Swash feel after discovering his ancestors?
After Swash became more clear about where he came from, the actor couldn’t help but get emotional. “It fills me with a great deal of pride to think that he was struggling for life anyway, being Italian, living where they lived, but he was still concerned about what was happening in the world and fascism,” he noted.He shared how proud he was of his great-grandfather and all the struggle he went through during his time with him.
Not only that, but he talked about the kind of adversity he may have faced and how he persevered to achieve what he believed was right.
Joe Swash talks about his life now
The actor also commented on how his life is now. He shared that he and his partner Stacey Solomon have 5 children and they are very busy taking care of them all the time. “My life is very chaotic. My work is very chaotic; it can take me everywhere, and the hours are irregular. When we come home, we have five children to take care of. So, every now and then, I don’t do it enough. I like to go fishing.”Swash and Solomon have four children: Harry, Rex, Rose, and Belle. The actor is also a stepfather to Stacey’s two older sons from a previous marriage, Zachary and Layton.
