Details of Serena Williams’ return to tennis
The Queen’s Club marks the first of two events Williams has entered this month, with the second coming at the Berlin Open next week. Of course, all eyes will be on the Grand Slam champion and Olympic champion to see if she plays at Wimbledon, the prestigious grass-court Grand Slam tournament, at the end of June.
Williams stepped away from tennis in 2022 to focus on family, a book deal and several business projects, although she stopped short of calling it an official retirement. In an article by L Vogue magazine“I’ve never liked the word retirement,” the 41-year-old wrote at the time, adding: “Maybe the best word to describe where I am now is evolution. I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, towards other things that interest me.”
