Reacting to BRS for its criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s remarks on Hitler, Telangana Industries Minister D.K. Sridhar Babu on Monday said the Prime Minister was only emphasizing decisiveness and speed of action while talking about HYDRAA and did not refer to the violent ideology of the Nazi dictator.

Sridhar Babu told reporters here that the Prime Minister meant that the law would be strictly enforced against land encroachers.

He said that the BRS is trying to defame the Congress government by harping on the word ‘Hitler’.

“While the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency is creating fear in the minds of the attackers, some are shedding crocodile tears. KTR leader Rama Rao is talking about Gandhi ji and Ambedkar. This is the joke of the century,” he told reporters here.

He said that during the previous BRS regime, the then Prime Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (also known as KCR) never visited the Secretariat and his office and official residence in the camp were not accessible to the general public.

Recalling the allegations of phone tapping during the BRS regime, Sridhar Babu wondered if this was a democratic regime.

Sridhar Babu also played a video of KCR regarding his stint as CM.

The former prime minister is heard saying in the video: “I wanted to be Hitler. I am not ashamed. We will not only act like Hitler but also like his grandfather if anyone uses government funds indiscriminately.”

Quoting the video, the minister asked whether KCR was implementing Hitler’s ideology when he was Prime Minister.

The minister noted that HYDRAA works within the scope of the law, and said that the agency is working to secure lakes, other water bodies and lands from the clutches of encroachments.

Citizens living near these water bodies are praising HYDRAA’s measures, and wonder why KTR would feel bad if the lands are freed from encroachments, he said.

Revanth Reddy’s statement that he was inspired by Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler while naming HYDRAA sparked a political row with the BRS and the BJP, who criticized him harshly.

Speaking at an event in Bengaluru on Saturday, Revanth Reddy said he decided to set up HYDRAA after noticing large-scale encroachments on lakes and water bodies.

“I can understand that the poor are encroaching on the lakes and nalas. Nowadays, the rich are encroaching on the water bodies because of their farm houses and linking their drainage with the water bodies. I noticed all these problems. Then I decided to create one task force – Hydra.”

He also said: “Hydra was Hitler’s favorite word. His core team, which could assassinate anyone, was called Hydra. So, I took inspiration from Hitler, and called it Hydra.”

KT Rama Rao launched a scathing attack on Revanth Reddy over his remarks, alleging that the Prime Minister’s comments exposed his “authoritarian and fascist” mentality in front of the entire nation.
