Why was 'Takht' postponed? Meher Pandey finally reveals the real reason

Meher Pandey has finally revealed the real reason behind Karan Johar’s Takht postponement. The actor said that the coronavirus made it impossible to align the dates of the star-studded cast and the budget also crossed Rs 200 crore. He added that the shelves were very personal to him.

Meher Pandey is an actor who is quietly but surely making his presence felt in the world of entertainment. In a recent candid conversation with him, he spoke about the heartbreak of shelving ‘Takht’ and much more.

In August 2019, Karan Johar announced a big film titled ‘Takht’ with a very famous cast. The film stars Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt,

Anil Kapoor

,

Bhumi Pednekar

and

Janhvi Kapoor

and was prepared on a budget of Rs 250 crore.

Meher Pandey says that the Corona virus and the high budget killed “Takht”

In an interview with Mid-Day, Meher shed light on the real reasons behind the suspension of the film ‘Takht’. “Takht was not an ordinary film. It was Mr. Yash Johar’s last dream project and had a historical connection to it. When you write a script based on history, you cannot change the facts.

“Once the coronavirus happened, it became very difficult to get that many actors together and align their dates,” he said. Maher also revealed that the budget has crossed Rs 200 crore, making it difficult for the filmmakers to arrange funds.

He also added, “Even if you wanted to plan it two years later, it would be impossible to get the entire crew together. If you shoot Takht today, you will have to rewrite the script from scratch because the audience has changed.”

Meher Pandey says shelving ‘Takht’ was a very personal matter for him

For Meher, shelving Takht was not just a professional setback, it was a deeply personal matter. Being associated with the big company Dharma Productions was nothing less than a dream and the film has begun to open new doors for him in the industry. “I was almost living that dream. I was invited to parties, and they made me feel welcome. They made me feel like I was a part of the film. Looking back, I just know how difficult it was to accept the fact that a Dharma film won’t happen for me,” he shared emotionally.

Meher Pandey reveals that he was portrayed as a terrorist in his early days

The actor also looked back on his initial days in the industry and spoke about how his appearance became an obstacle for him. He revealed that he was often typecast and turned away because he looked a certain way. “Initially, that was a major factor,” he said. “Because of my eyes, my face and my facial features, I was often seen only as a typical Kashmiri or a terrorist. Those were the categories I was usually categorized into.”
