'Don't laugh, I'm serious': Shreyas Talpade shares how 'Welcome to the Jungle' director Ahmed Khan agreed to choreograph 'Mardini' song

The upcoming film ‘Mardini’, which tells a powerful story of women empowerment, motherhood, struggle and self-confidence, is all set to hit the screens on July 3, 2026, and now a special song from the film has caught everyone’s attention.

This song has got its first Marathi choreography by famous Bollywood choreographer Ahmed Khan and Adarsh ​​Shinde has lent his voice to this title song from ‘Mardini’.

Ahmed Khan choreographed his first Marathi song

Interestingly, this song marks Ahmed Khan’s debut in Marathi films as a choreographer. Talking about it, he said, “I had a lot of fun while performing this song. Shreyas is my younger brother, and I have a lot of love and affection for Deepti. The experience of working with all the artists, technicians and everyone associated with this film was very beautiful.”

Working with the whole team created a feeling of being part of the family.

He also said, “This is not just a song, but a beautiful expression of faith, emotion and prayer. ‘Mardini’ is a story that gives a sense of the strength of a mother. The plot of the film shows a very effective expression of the strength of motherhood and the stubbornness of women. So, it was easy to connect emotionally with this song. This is also the first time I have worked in a Marathi film.”

Presented by Shreyas Talpade, ‘Mardini’ is a content-rich film that reveals the journey of women’s existence, self-esteem and the strength that emerges from struggle.

ETimes also contacted Shreyas Talpade, who shared the story behind Ahmed Khan coming on board to choreograph the song.“I feel happy, grateful and proud that someone like Ahmed Khan choreographed our song. It was very nice of him. I remember we were shooting for ‘Welcome To The Jungle’ when he noticed that I looked busy and asked me, ‘Kya hua?’I told him: There is a song for a Marathi film that I am producing.

It’s a promotional number, and I’m trying to figure out how to shoot it.’ Without missing a beat, he said very sweetly: “Aare, toh mein kar donga.”At first I laughed because I thought he was joking. But he immediately said: “Don’t laugh, I’m serious.” I will sing your song. And he already did that. “It was a nice gesture because I know how busy and nervous he was finishing ‘Welcome To The Jungle.'”He also added, “Despite everything on his plate, he took time to listen to the song, visualize the entire sequence, and film it.

And for that I will always be grateful to him. The way the song took shape at the end was really cool.The speed at which he completed the shoot was amazing, almost breaking the record for a song of this size. In a way, it’s a tribute to all mothers. “I just hope the audience enjoys watching it as much as we enjoyed filming it.”The film also stars Prarthana Beher, Abhijit Khandakkar, Jitendra Joshi, Rajesh Bhosale and child artist Meera Vaikul in important roles. The film is directed by Ajay Mayekar and produced by Deepti Talpade.
