Janhvi Kapoor’s portrayal in the film Peddi starring Ram Charan has become the talk of the town. Now, Telugu actress Dimple Hayathi has come out with strong support for her colleague. Speaking to X on Sunday, Hayati made it clear that the blame lies not with the actress, but with the filmmakers and the industry system that shapes how women are written and presented on screen.
Dimple Hayathi supports Janhvi Kapoor. He criticizes the system and its makers
Amid the ongoing backlash over the film Peddi, Dimple Hayathi has expressed her support for Janhvi Kapoor, whose role in the film has received criticism from a section of the audience. Many viewers accused the film of objectifying women through its camera work, dialogues and romantic sequences involving Ram Charan and Kapoor.Hayathi used her X-Indicator on Sunday to directly address the issue. I wrote, “I’m so glad that today, on this day, we’re all talking about how actresses’ roles are written and the instinctive response is to blame the actress for doing what she’s offered.
Don’t blame the actress; Blame the system and the manufacturers who really believe this is what sells. As actors, we work within the opportunities we get, trying to make it big and hopefully work in bigger films and reach wider audiences.
“Hayati also highlighted how actors, especially actresses, are judged by the characters they play rather than their actual abilities. She added: “Unfortunately, we are stereotyped by our image and how things unfold with the characters we play, without the opportunity to showcase our full potential as actors.
Whereas when hero-centric stories take over, they have free reign.
What we see is what we believe, unfortunately. No one knows what goes into making movies. It is not under the control of one person. But we can all unanimously agree that we deserve better experiences and better filmmaking.”

The previous day, on Saturday, ‘Peddi’ director Buchi Babu Sana also responded to the criticism via X. He wrote, “We have heard the comments regarding some of the scenes in Peddi and have taken them seriously.
I’ve always had great respect for women, both on screen and off, and it was never our intention to objectify or disrespect any female character. If any part of the film is viewed in this way, we respect those sentiments, understand the concerns raised, and sincerely apologize.
“SANA confirmed that the team has reviewed the rejected parts and will make the necessary amendments. He added, “Cinema grows through its connection with audiences, and as storytellers, we have a responsibility to be aware of evolving perspectives and sensibilities.
