Is Shania Twain divorced?
The country star has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity in recent years, and a new generation of fans has become curious about her past.
Considering how many of her classic songs deal with the subject of heartbreak, we suppose it’s no surprise that Shania is divorced.

And like sad country songs everywhere, her first marriage ended because of an affair.
Shania Twain divorced Mott Lange after she caught him cheating on him
Yes, Shania broke up with legendary music producer Mutt Lange after she caught him having an affair with her best friend Marie-Anne Thiebaud.
Poor Shania had the last laugh, as she is currently married to Marie-Anne’s ex-husband, Frederic Thiebaud.

Shania opened up about her divorce during the latest episode of the “Great Company With Jamie Laing” podcast.
“Forgiveness is part of letting go,” she said. “But forgiveness, more specifically for me anyway, doesn’t necessarily mean forgetting.”
“It’s about understanding the other person, and that might mean they’re wrong… Maybe you’ll forever believe that everything they did was wrong,” Shania continued.
“Do I hate my ex-husband because he made a mistake? No. It’s his fault. Not mine.”

Shania Twain says she has moved on from her painful first marriage
“It’s very sad for him that he made a big mistake that he has to live with. And I don’t know what this is, but it’s not…this is not my weight,” she continued.
“My father is a better role model, well, because that’s the person I completely forgive.”
Shania has previously spoken about the abuse she suffered as a child and her long journey towards forgiving her stepfather.

In a previous interview on the “Armchair Expert” podcast, Shania said that when they both learned of the couple’s infidelity, her now-husband handled the news much better than she did.
“He was thinking it all through… It wasn’t cool with him, but he was smarter about it,” she said.
Shania added: “I was uncontrollably fragile, which I had never felt before because for once I thought my condition was stable.”

Twain added at the time: “I really believe I’m safe. So I think that really destroyed me more than any other state of instability I’ve ever felt.”
Fortunately, Shania found her happy ending, and she and Frederick are still going strong.
To paraphrase one of Twain’s most famous songs, Frederick is clearly still the one!
