NRI Maths Teacher from Australia, Crores of Property in India: A horrific murder plot by family members unraveled

Australian NRI Sunil Sharma was killed by his brother in India over millions of property.

A week after Surbhi Sharma, the daughter of an NRI mathematics teacher in Australia, launched an appeal to find her father, police in India have uncovered the horrific murder plot, making four arrests.

The four are his brother, his brother’s wife, his son, and another person involved in the conspiracy. 66-year-old Sunil Sharma was a mathematics teacher at Diamond Valley College. He was about to retire and came to India to sell two properties. But he mysteriously disappeared in India, something that was first discovered on May 23, when a person in India reported Sharma missing.Sharma, an Australian citizen of Indian origin, arrived in India just a day ago.

Some renovation work was taking place at the property before the alleged sale, for which Sharma traveled to India. He had millions of properties to his name in India.“Anyone who has met my father will say he is smart, strong and funny, but also loving and sensitive,” Sorbhi said last week as she asked for help in locating her father. “I consider myself very lucky to have a father like him.” Sharma was dead at the time. Surbhi also said that her father used to travel to India regularly.

“He goes to India a lot, especially since my mother died four years ago. So he was just trying to sell his property there so he could come back and retire.

“My brother and I were asked not to go there because it is not uncommon for family members to disappear as well if there is something related to property or money,” she said.It has not yet been confirmed whether police in India have found Sharma’s body.Sunil Sharma’s brother Satish Sharma conspired to kill NRIs to get his property through a forged power of attorney. A real estate dealer was also involved in the plan. According to reports, Sunil Sharma was lured to India by Satish with a real estate deal. Once he arrived, the plan was implemented. The NRI was given sleeping pills and then killed by hitting his head with a baseball bat. The accused then destroyed all the evidence and also dumped the body.Satish Sharma, his wife, son and builder were arrested.CCTV footage from one of the properties showed Sharma arriving and leaving twice while supervising a group of painters on May 22, the last day he was seen alive.
