Shivakumar allocates portfolios to 13-member Karnataka government, retains finance and staff

Karnataka Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday allocated portfolios to the 13-member Cabinet who were sworn in the previous day, keeping the finance and personnel departments with him and allocating key ministries to his senior colleagues.

As per the portfolio allocation notified by Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, Shivakumar will take up finance, personnel and administrative reforms, besides all other unallocated portfolios. (charity)

However, there was some dissatisfaction regarding the distribution of ministerial portfolios within the ruling party.

As per the portfolio allocation notified by Governor Thawarchand Gehlot, Shivakumar will take up finance, personnel and administrative reforms, besides all other unallocated portfolios.

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara has been given charge of revenue department along with youth empowerment and sports, while Priyank Karg has been allotted home, besides retaining the IT and biotechnology department which he was handling in the previous Siddaramaiah government.

Among the ministers who retained the posts of the previous Siddaramaiah government, KJ George continued in the Ministry of Energy and was additionally posted in Tourism, MB Patel retained the Large and Medium Industries portfolio, Satish Jarkiholi continued as Public Works Minister, KH Muniyappa retained Food and Civil Supplies, while Sharan Prakash Patel continued to hold the Medical Education portfolio.

Krishna Bair Gowda has been given charge of urban development in Bengaluru under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), while senior Congress leader Ramalinga Reddy has been allocated the core and medium portfolio.

Birathi Suresh will head the transport department, UT Greens has been allocated health, former chief minister Siddaramaiah’s son Yatindra Siddaramaiah, an MLC member, has been allocated urban development, while Ishwar Khanderi has been allocated rural development. Khader served as health minister during the previous Siddaramaiah regime from 2013 to 2018. He was also the Speaker of the Karnataka State Assembly from 2023 to May 2026. Yatendra’s portfolio includes urban infrastructure development and finance company.
