Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the fire broke out at the KSR Fashions clothing showroom inside the mall in Srinivasa Nagar West, next to Metro pillar No. 1043. “Emergency response and rescue operations were carried out at the site,” Sajjanar said in a post on X, Twitter earlier.

According to a senior official from the Hyderabad Fire Department, the fire started around 1pm, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and creating panic among local shopkeepers and commuters.

Fire crews immediately rushed to the scene and carried out a large-scale operation to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring commercial establishments.

“Within minutes of receiving the information, seven fire engines were deployed to control the fire,” the fire official said, adding that the fire was brought under control after an hour of intense firefighting operations.

The accident also caused heavy traffic jams on the main road.

The official stated, “The timely evacuation of the building and the rapid response by emergency services helped avoid a major tragedy. There were no injuries or victims.”

The authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the accident.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the fire may have broken out in a commercial section of the complex before spreading quickly due to the presence of highly flammable materials.

In his post on X, Sajjanar said that vehicular movement on the Ameerpet-SR Nagar road was severely disrupted, leading to severe traffic jams. The police chief said: “The authorities are closely monitoring the situation and organizing traffic to minimize inconvenience to the public.”
