Earlier, Adhikari offered prayers at the historic Taraknath Temple at Tarakeshwar in Hooghly district and spoke about plans to develop the temple and preserve its heritage.

Speaking to ANI after offering prayers, Adhikari said though his visit was linked to administrative obligations, seeking blessings at the temple was an important part of his trip.

“The visit to Tarakeshwar was primarily an administrative mission, but as a devotee, I could not miss seeking darshan of Baba Mahadev, who holds a special place in the hearts of everyone in Bengal. There is a huge amount of work to be done here, including changing the color to saffron from blue and white, reflecting its spiritual significance. This is the people’s government,” Adhikari said.

Pointing out the historical importance of Tarakeshwar, Adhikari said a historic resolution was passed there in April 1946 under the leadership of Syama Prasad Mukherjee, affirming that Bengal would remain a part of India.

“At Tarakeshwar from April 4 to 6, 1946, Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee issued a historic decision that we will remain in India, and will not go with Pakistan. On June 20, in celebration of State Day, we will honor Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee on his 125th birth anniversary. Tarakeshwar has immense historical and cultural importance, and the government is committed to highlighting this heritage while driving and continuing the development and progress of the region.”

The BJP leader also announced the launch of the first phase of direct cash transfers under the Annapurna Scheme, which began today.

“Tomorrow, we will transfer the funds allocated for the Annapurana scheme to those who have filled out their forms. All promises are made after careful consideration and faithfully implemented. However, infiltrators within the scheme, including those who violate laws, refuse vaccines, or do not send their children to school, will not receive any financial assistance…” Adhikari asserted firmly on June 2.
