Kangana Ranaut shared a personal memory of the night the 26/11 terror attacks took place in Mumbai, revealing that she was at a party with Bollywood friends when director Mahesh Bhatt walked in and announced the news. The revelation came at the trailer launch of her upcoming film ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, which is inspired by the true story of the nurses and boys at Cama Hospital who calmly saved lives during an accident.
Kangana Ranaut recalls learning about the 26/11 attack at a party
According to PTI, at the trailer launch of ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’, Kangana Ranaut revealed that she was at a house party hosted by actress Shahana Goswami on the night of November 26, 2008, when the attacks began. The gathering included fellow stalwarts from Vishesh Films, and the atmosphere was festive until Mahesh Bhatt arrived.She said, “I have a crazy story. We were all coming, working with (Mahesh) Bhatt sahab, and we were all struggling at Vishesh Films. Shahana Goswami got a house in Jari Road, and she was saying, ‘Come to my house, we should have a party.’ So, we were all there, Shahana and Shuguta (the writer), and we were having a party, and then Bhatt sahab came in. He came in and said, ‘Turn on the TV.’ We were dancing and having fun; He started watching TV and said, ‘Is there an attack?’ Terrorist happening?Kangana Ranaut revealed that the director asked them to stay home until everything is settled.
The actress also shared, “We asked Shahana: Should we go home or continue celebrating?” Bhatt sahab suggested that no one should leave and just wait. So, we were a group of 20-25 people celebrating at Shahana’s house, and then we reported to Bhat Sahab (Khobar). Otherwise we wouldn’t have known about it.”
About the 26/11 attack
On 26 November 2008, ten Pakistani terrorists carried out a coordinated attack across Mumbai, targeting a railway station, two luxury hotels and a Jewish center after entering the city via the Arabian Sea.
The attack, which lasted nearly 60 hours, reportedly killed 166 people and shook the country.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, directed by Manoj Tapadia, is set inside Cama Hospital and tells the story of the nurses and ward boys who risked their lives to protect those in their care. Kangana plays the role of a nurse in the film, which also stars Girija Oak and Smita Tambe. It is scheduled to be released on June 12, 2026.
