A Pennsylvania man turned a marital dispute into a scene of destruction after he threatened to demolish his family’s home and then carried out the threat with an excavator while his wife and daughters were still inside.Eric Perosza, 48, tore up the back of his Butler County home after getting into a fight with his wife after a night of drinking. The damage was so severe that investigators believe the entire home may no longer be safe or structurally sound. The confrontation began when Pierosa’s wife informed him that their marriage was over, according to CBS Pittsburgh. In response, he warned her: “If this ends, I will tear the house down.”Police say he then climbed into the excavator and began tearing up parts of the property. His wife and two daughters were inside the house when the machine collided with the building. During the 911 call, the sound of the excavator hitting the walls could be heard in the background. After the destruction stopped, Biriosa returned home, gathered a gym bag and left the area. The police later chased him and arrested him.
He has since been charged with causing a disaster, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct, among other crimes.Pierosa’s wife planned to seek a protection from abuse order following the incident. The case has left neighbors stunned, with many struggling to understand how the controversy escalated into the partial demolition of the family home.“I would like to know what she said to him because I would make sure I wouldn’t say that,” a neighbor told CBS News.He added: “I have been married for forty-two years, but I have never threatened to demolish the house.”Pierosa is scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 9.
