‘Premalu’ turns out to be one of the biggest Malayalam success stories in recent times. Directed by Girish AD, the romantic entertainer received strong response after its theatrical run.After its impressive run in theatres, the makers have also announced plans for a sequel to the film. Now, the latest update regarding this matter has been revealed by lead actress Nesleen.

‘Premalu’ starred Naslen and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles. The film is shot against the backdrop of Hyderabad and follows a youthful story that has resonated with audiences.The film crossed the Rs 100 crore mark and was appreciated for its performances and storytelling.Additionally, the cast includes Shyam Mohan, Akhila Bhargavan, Sangeeth Pratap, Altav Salim and Meenakshi Raveendran.
The sequel of ‘Premalu’ has faced several delays
Even after the sequel was announced, updates surrounding ‘Premalu 2’ remained limited. Reports of delays began to emerge over time. Recently, producer Dilesh Pothan also spoke about the status of the project and suggested that the sequel has almost been dropped. Now Neslin addressed the matter and explained the situation surrounding the film.
Neslin reveals the reason for stopping the film
Speaking during an interview with Club FM, Neslin explained the reasoning behind the decision and revealed that the project could not go ahead because the script did not fully satisfy the team.“Premalu 2 has been officially cancelled. Dileesh Etan has already spoken about it. Due to certain technical reasons, the project has not reached the perfect landing. Maybe it can happen in the future. But as of now, it has been cancelled.
The project was halted because the script did not reach the required perfection.”
The possibility of returning in the future remains
Although the sequel has now been cancelled, Naslin’s statement left room for future possibilities.Meanwhile, Naslin has a number of upcoming projects currently in development.His future line-up is said to include ‘Suriya 47’ with director Jithu Madhavan and actor Suriya. He is also attached to Amal Neerad’s ‘Bachelor Party 2’ and Khaled Rahman’s ‘Mattancherry Mafia’ with Mammootty in the lead role.
