Four residents of Arunachal Pradesh died in Assam’s Guwahati after their car collided with a parked truck on Friday morning, police said.

Tanmay Nath, officer-in-charge of Khetri police station in Guwahati, said the accident occurred at 11:15 am and all four passengers, including the driver, were declared dead on their arrival at Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
The police said that the deceased were Ling Basar (55 years old), his wife Kunga Dolma (52 years old), his son Jamar Basar (22 years old), and the latter’s friend Karma Sherab Khorimi (22 years old).
Ling and his family members were residents of Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh, while Karma Sherab was from West Kameng district. “They were traveling from Arunachal Pradesh to Guwahati and the car was moving at high speed, according to what passers-by said,” Nath said.
He added that the exact cause of the accident is being investigated. Ling Basar was driving the car, and it is suspected that he may have fallen asleep, as they started their journey early from Arunachal Pradesh.
Khitri traffic police forces intervened at the scene and the victims were recovered. “They were taken to GMCH Hospital, but doctors declared them dead on arrival. The bodies have been sent for autopsy and we are conducting further investigations into the matter,” he added.
The police informed the family members of the deceased. According to them, Jamar Basar and Karma Sherab Khorimi were students traveling to Guwahati for some family-related reasons.
