The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh over the ‘Don 3’ dispute. A day after the directive was officially issued, FWICE senior advisor Ashoke Pandit revealed that the federation made three separate attempts to reach the representative before taking action.
This revelation added a new dimension to the controversy surrounding Singh’s sudden exit from Farhan Akhtar’s film Don 3.
Ashok Pandit reveals Ranveer Singh’s response
Speaking exclusively to ETimes, Ashoke Pandit explained the sequence of events that led to the non-cooperation directive, explaining that the union gave Singh an opportunity to resolve the issue.
“We tried our best aggressively. We sent him invitations three times. There was no response. Then he finally sent a mail when he learned that we were holding a press conference, saying this does not fall under your purview,” Pandit said.He added that the Union remains open to dialogue and is ready to wait for a solution. “So we said, okay, if you feel this strongly. Toh thek hai. Koi baat nahi. It doesn’t matter. So this is a basic thing; we will wait. We will sit with the producers’ body. We will sit with different associations, and we will see how it goes.”
What is the controversy over “Don 3”?
Ranveer Singh has been officially announced as the new Don in 2023, taking over the iconic role previously played by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Although the promotional video generated buzz, the project soon faced delays and uncertainty.Multiple reports indicate Singh’s exit due to creative differences. He reportedly wanted a darker, more aggressive version of the character, including stronger language and increased violence, while Farhan Akhtar reportedly preferred to stay closer to his original vision for the franchise. Reports also indicated that Singh was frustrated with repeated delays in production and the absence of a locked-in final script. It is important to note that Ranveer Singh has not issued any official statement explaining the reasons for his exit from “Don 3”.
