Meanwhile, the ruling TDP is yet to respond to the accusations.

The case relates to the death of Preeti, a minor girl, during the previous TDP regime.

The school authorities allegedly confirmed that Preity died by suicide, while her parents claimed sexual assault and murder, citing visible injuries on her body.

The previous YSRCP government transferred the investigation to the CBI, while the family alleged that justice remained elusive thereafter.

“The Naidu government’s negligence in Sugali Preity’s case is causing severe suffering to her parents… Despite the availability of scientific evidence and reports, the government has chosen to remain silent instead of ensuring justice,” Jagan said in a post on Channel X late on Tuesday.

According to Jagan, after the YSRCP came to power, his government formed a special investigation team on the requests of the victim’s parents and pushed the probe.

The former chief minister said his government also extended support to the family by allotting a five-cent house site in Kurnool, five acres of farmland and a government job.

He further said that a CBI investigation has been ordered into the case based on the requests made by the family.

According to him, after Naidu returned to power, the issue was sidelined again and despite the CBI expressing constraints on staff and resources, the state government did not extend adequate cooperation.

He also claimed that the victim’s parents informed him that their “pension” was being stopped for speaking out against the government and questioning the delay in the investigation.

The parents shared the SIT reports prepared during the previous YSRCP government along with laboratory reports from the DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostic Center and details of DNA profiles collected during the investigation.

The opposition leader questioned the government’s approach and claimed that despite the availability of scientific evidence, the authorities remained silent spectators instead of taking the investigation to its logical conclusion.

Noting that the grieving parents met him again to seek justice for their daughter, Jagan said he assured them of his support.

He assured that YSRCP will provide full legal support to the family until justice is done in the case.
