Shwetha Menon makes a powerful statement on AMMA crisis; The actress is willing to step down if requested by seniors

Actress Shweta Menon has finally responded to the growing controversy within the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA). The actress, who currently holds the position of president of the organization, spoke to the media after the serious accusations made by actress Ansiba Hassan against actor Tiny Tom led to new tension within the association. Shweta Menon has publicly admitted that there are communication gaps within AMMA and said that several issues will be discussed during the upcoming general body meeting.

Her emotional and direct statements have now become a major talking point in the Malayalam film industry.

Shweta Menon is ready to step down if asked to do so by her seniors

Speaking candidly about the internal problems at AMMA, Shweta Menon said she was ready to step down from the leadership position if asked to do so by senior representatives. “If senior members ask me to step aside, I am ready,” she said firmly, as reported by The Indian Express. “But I did not come here to lose.” The actress also claimed that some people within the executive committee are trying to target and isolate her.

“I feel like I’m trapped.

“That seems to be the agenda,” she added. Shweta also mentioned that she believes some members are still struggling to accept women into leadership positions within the organization.

Reacting to the controversy surrounding Ansiba Haasan and Tiny Tom, Shweta Menon said that the matter seemed to be “planned” and claimed that she learned about the complaint only through media reports. “The complaint officially reached AMMA around 2pm that day,” she explained.

According to Shweta, Ansiba’s resignation letter, as mentioned earlier, was based on personal reasons and did not include allegations against Tiny Tom.

She revealed: “We tried to contact Ansiba after the complaint appeared, but she did not answer the phone.” Shweta also clarified that the executive committee will consider the issue properly as per AMMA rules and procedures.

Shweta Menon defends women’s leadership and calls for unity

Shweta Menon also spoke emotionally about the challenges faced by women leaders in film organisations. “From the first meeting itself, I realized that some people have problems with a woman in power,” she said. The actress explained that the absence of big stars like Mammootty and Mohanlal from leadership positions led to a change in the atmosphere within the organization. Despite the criticism and pressure, Shweta insisted that she remains strong and committed to resolving the issues within AMMA.

She added that the next general body meeting will be very important in addressing all concerns and restoring unity within the association.
