Veteran actress Hema Malini received the prestigious Padma Vibhushan award on behalf of her late husband Dharmendra from President Draupadi Murmu. The honour, which was announced in January this year, was bestowed posthumously on the legendary actor, who passed away in November last year, in recognition of his remarkable contribution to Indian cinema over six decades.

Hema Malini wore a pink saree as she gracefully walked to the stage to receive the prestigious award. She was visibly emotional and accepted the honor with a heavy heart. Ahana, who was sitting in the audience, had tears in her eyes when she saw her mother receiving her late father’s award.

Earlier, speaking to Hindustan Times, Hema had said, “It’s an emotional moment for me. My aahana (daughter) is with me. Isha wanted to come but she couldn’t come here.”
