Mumbai Indians have announced the signing of Mahipal Lemrur and Rochit Ahir as injury replacements for Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa for the remainder of IPL 2026.De Kock was ruled out after sustaining a tendon injury in his left wrist ahead of Mumbai’s match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Bawa tore a ligament in his right thumb during MI’s match against Punjab Kings on May 14.
Both players were able to participate in only three matches this season before they were sidelined.
Mumbai have now turned to Lemrur, the experienced left-handed batsman from Rajasthan, to bolster their squad. The 26-year-old has already played 40 matches in the Indian Premier League and has previously represented Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. He was also part of the Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans teams in previous seasons but did not feature in any matches.
MI signed him for Rs 50 lakh.The franchise has also brought in wicket-keeper Ahir for Rs 30 lakh. The 25-year-old cricketer from Saurashtra has featured in 16 List A and 12 T20 matches so far in his domestic career.

“He was part of Reliance’s squad for the DY Patil T20 Cup 2026 this pre-season, where the coaches and team management had the opportunity to monitor him closely. Mumbai Indians is delighted to welcome both players to the squad,” the franchise said in a statement.
Mumbai’s disappointing IPL 2026 campaign has already ended with them crashing out of the playoffs, with the five-time champions currently sitting ninth on the points table with eight points from 13 matches.They will now look to end the season on a positive note when they take on Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. However, another defeat could leave MI rooted at the bottom of the table, while a victory for Rajasthan would ensure their qualification for the playoffs.
