'Karuppu' became Syria's highest-grossing film of all time; Storms crossed Rs 200 crore worldwide in just 6 days

Suriya’s latest film ‘Karuppu’, directed by RJ Balaji, has received tremendous response from audiences in theatres. The action fantasy film stars Trisha Krishnan, Indrance, Natti Natraj, and several others in the lead roles, while Sai Abhyankar has composed the music.

The film opened strongly at the box office and has now become one of the biggest hits of Suriya’s career.

Suriya achieves a new professional achievement in just one week

The makers have now officially announced that Karuppu has crossed the Rs 207 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Earlier, the film had collected Rs 147 crore within just three days of its release. With this feat, Karuppu becomes the first film in Suriya’s career to enter the Rs 200-crore club within a week.

Reports also indicate that the film has emerged as Suriya’s highest-grossing film in Kerala. Trade experts believe that the collections may continue to grow in the coming days due to strong support from word-of-mouth and family audiences.

Karuppusamy’s role as Suriya strikes a chord emotionally

The film revolves around a corrupt court involving corruption, crimes and injustices. A poor man from Kerala seeks justice, leading to divine intervention in human form.

Syria is a divine entity that appears disguised as a lawyer seeking justice. The emotional elements combined with action, fantasy and comedy have had an impact on people. RJ Balaji’s performance as the antagonist Baby Kannan also won praise from the viewers.

Suriya’s upcoming films are creating a lot of buzz

Post the success of Karuppu, Suriya is currently working on Viswanathan and Sons, directed by Venky Atluri of Vaathi and Lucky Baskhar. The film is expected to hit theaters in July. Next, Suriya will also collaborate with Jeethu Madhavan, who directed the Malayalam blockbuster ‘Aavesham’. With Karuppu setting new records at the box office, expectations for Suriya’s upcoming projects have increased significantly among fans and trade circles.
