The X (formerly Twitter) account of the political satirical group Cockroach Janata Party has been blocked in India after it gained huge popularity on social media in just a few days, even surpassing the number of followers of the BJP on Instagram.

The group’s founder, Abhijit Deepki, shared a photo of the pop-ups that appear when opening an X account and wrote in the caption: “As expected, Cockroach Janta Party account has been blocked in India.”
The account, with the username CJP_2029, displays the message “Account has been blocked” in bold letters, followed by “@CJP_2029 has been blocked in IN in response to a legal request.”
This setback for the Kokroch Janta Party, also known as the CJP, comes at a time when the party has been gaining momentum for its cynical stance on Indian politics.
The CJP has 13.2 million followers on Instagram while the BJP has 8.8 million.
Why was the account blocked?
According to
“These blocks will be limited to the specific jurisdiction that issued the valid legal request or where the content was found to violate local law(s),” it said.
