The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Shivraj Motegaonkar, director of a coaching institute in Latur, Maharashtra, for questioning as part of its probe into the National Eligibility Test (NEET)-UG 2026 question paper leak.

Motigaonkar, who runs Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC), was brought to the CBI office in Pune for questioning as the agency expanded its investigations.
Many questions from the mock exams conducted by RCC were allegedly identical to those from the NEET-UG 2026 exam conducted on May 3. The CBI seized mobile phones, laptops, iPads and other electronic devices during searches at the training institute and related buildings in Latur, people familiar with the matter said.
The agency has arrested retired chemistry professor P V Kulkarni, who is allegedly linked to the NEET paper preparation process. Investigators suspect that the leakage racket may have involved a network of educational consultants and training centers. And brokers who work across states.
Investigators said a parent filed a complaint alleging that dozens of questions from a mock test conducted by a private coaching institute in Latur matched those in the final NEET examination paper. The complaint led to an investigation by local police, which the CBI later took charge of.

Investigators were examining financial transactions, digital communications records, and the possible role of training institutes in circulating the leaked questions before the examination. The CBI is interrogating the suspects and collecting evidence from Maharashtra, Rajasthan and other states linked to the case.
