Sequel coming in Sonic the Hedgehog The franchise is accelerating towards release.

Sonic 4 Director Jeff Fowler took to social media on Friday to announce that the film has wrapped production. Adapting the popular Sega video game property, the Paramount Pictures feature is scheduled to hit theaters on March 19, 2027. Additionally, an untitled film in the series will debut in theaters in late 2028.

“This is a wrap on #SonicMovie4!!!” “On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we’ve shot the best Sonic movie yet and we can’t wait to share it,” Fowler, who oversaw the first three films, wrote on X.

The director’s post included a photo of himself with a Metal Sonic puppet, an evil robotic version of Sonic from the game series that was teased at the end of the third film.

Ben Schwartz reprises his voice role as the titular creature Speed Sonic 4. Other voice stars include Kristen Bell as Amy Rose, Colin O’Shaughnessy as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Jim Carrey, James Marsden, and Tika Sumpter complete the film’s live-action cast. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Asher, and Toru Nakahara return as producers for the fourth film.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 It hits theaters in 2024 and sees Carrey portraying a dual role as Dr. Robotnik and the mad scientist grandfather. It has grossed over $490 million at the global box office. Franchise, which began with the February 2020 release of Sonic the Hedgehogalso produced the Paramount+ series Joints.

In his review of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to Hollywood ReporterLeading film critic David Rooney described the film as “a well-balanced, fast-paced mixture of action and slapstick comedy, in this case set in scenic locales such as Tokyo and London.”
