Montclair Film, the organization behind the New Jersey-based Montclair Film Festival long supported by Stephen and Evie Colbert and a number of area-based entertainment industry figures, has made some changes to its board of trustees.

Board Vice Chair Mary Ann Vaughn was unanimously elected as Chair, succeeding Evie Colbert, who was unanimously elected to the position of Chair Emeritus, where she will continue to hold a voting position on the Board of Directors and a leadership position on its Executive Committee and remain closely involved with the organization. Colbert stepped down after a decade of day-to-day involvement in the organization’s leadership to allow other board members to grow and develop as leaders.

In addition, Trustee Sarah Barrack was unanimously elected Vice Chair of the Board of Directors.

Vaughn has served on the Montclair Film Board of Directors since 2017, helping to guide its mission of film, education, community engagement and visual storytelling.

She began her career in mortgage banking before moving to the nonprofit sector, supporting fundraising and outreach for Special Olympics. She later spent some time in London, where she led admissions and marketing operations at an American university before returning to the United States

With a background as an entertainment and business attorney, Barack served as a trustee of Montclair Film for 15 years, where he launched the inaugural festival’s volunteer program.

“I love the movie Montclair because I love the people I surround myself with,” Vaughn said in a statement. “I am very grateful for Evie’s guidance and leadership. I believe in our mission, I am very proud to be selected as the next leader of the Board and I am excited to collaborate with our amazingly talented staff.”

Tricia Haggerty Wiens, CEO and Co-President of Montclair Film, added, “We are thrilled to welcome Mary Ann Vaughn and Sarah Barrack to their new leadership roles. Mary Ann’s longstanding commitment to our mission and Sarah’s leadership experience on the Board are tremendous assets to our organization. With Evie Colbert’s continued stewardship of Montclair Film, we remain excited for the future.”

Vaughn, Colbert and Barrack have been in their new roles since April 1, the start of Montclair Film’s fiscal year.
