Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s office on Thursday stripped a newly appointed president of the Madhya Pradesh Textbook Corporation of his powers after he went to take charge in a 200-car convoy, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said on Thursday.

BJP leader Subhagya Singh Thakur was issued a show-cause notice and banned from using any facility of the state-run company tasked with publishing and selling textbooks, the statement said.
The order was issued by Ajatshatru Srivastava, a senior officer on special duty, who cited information on social media and other media reports about Thakur’s convoy, which allegedly included more than 200 vehicles that traveled 200 km from Ujjain to Bhopal.
“This event has been deemed a direct and serious violation of government guidelines,” the statement read. The incident occurred on May 11, just a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged citizens to reduce petrol and diesel consumption, avoid non-essential foreign travel, reduce gold purchases, and adopt other fuel conservation measures.
The Chief Observer said that the gathering of vehicles not only constitutes a waste of national resources, but also indicates an attempt to ignore calls of national importance and the principle of collective responsibility, despite your full awareness of your commitment to them.
The notice also imposes restrictions on his entry into the institution’s office or premises, as well as on the use of its facilities, vehicles, employees or offices.
Singh was also prohibited from participating in or chairing meetings, signing administrative or financial decisions, issuing instructions to employees, or approving important orders.
