This shark survival genre has been influenced by another star: Kate Beckinsale.
Hollywood Reporter can reveal that Serendipity and pilot The actress has boarded the action film white From director Jake West (evil dead), along with Katherine McNamara (Shadowhunters, The Maze Runner: The Death Cure). The script was written by Dan Schaeffer, writer and illustrator of the popular comic book series. Dogwitch. Beckinsale will also produce the feature.
The film follows Willa Harpa, a struggling actress trying to get her big break, who is traveling abroad to film with a self-obsessed star when their private plane crashes in the Pacific Ocean. Now she is the only survivor, stranded on a broken wing with nothing around her but the ocean. Her only lifeline is a satellite phone recovered from the wreckage, but when she calls for rescue, the demanding studio head, Barbara (Beckinsale), ignores her. Instead, her signal is picked up by marine biologist Sam Swiatek (McNamara). She delivers chilling news: Willa has bumped into the infamous White Shark Café, a stretch of ocean where the Great Whites gather to dine.
Casting for the role of Willa is currently underway, and principal photography is scheduled to begin this summer in Bulgaria, England, and the United States.
