'I wish I made more money': Nia DaCosta opens up about '28 Years Later: The Bone Temple' box office disappointment

There was great anticipation surrounding the theatrical release of 28 Years Later: Temple of Bones. However, after its worldwide release, the film reportedly performed poorly at the box office compared to previous installments in the series.

Director Nia DaCosta recently spoke about her feelings regarding the film’s performance and admitted that she was disappointed by the response.

In a recent interview with Empire, DaCosta said that expectations surrounding the film were extremely high leading up to its release, with all indications pointing to strong audience excitement.However, the film’s performance at the global box office left her and the team disappointed.She said: “I made a great movie, which I’m really proud of, and people loved it. My friend said to me years ago, ‘Nia, your career is what you can enjoy,’ and I’ve been really trying to put that into practice and take that seriously over the past few years.”The director also spoke about learning how to deal with public reactions to her work and accepting that audiences will always have different opinions. Despite the film’s commercial performance, she said she was still proud of the project and really enjoyed making it.

“When this movie came out, and it didn’t do well in terms of the money it made, I was disappointed. But I also said, ‘I’m very happy because when people find the movie, they will enjoy it.'” She added, “I wish it made more money, but I’m really proud of it.”According to Box Office Mojo, the film grossed approximately US$58.5 million worldwide. Reports indicate that the film struggled to make back its estimated US$63 million production budget.

Plot and Cast 28 Years Later: Temple of Bones

The film features a large ensemble cast including Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and a cameo appearance by Cillian Murphy, who has been part of previous films in the franchise.The story revolves around Spike, a young survivor who becomes involved in a cult led by the mentally ill Sir Lord Jamie Crystal. Meanwhile, Dr. Kelson continues to work on a potential cure that could finally help end the apocalypse.
