Ameesha Patel seems to have taken a sharp dig at the younger generation of actresses and the growing PR culture in the film industry. The actress, who was recently stranded in Oman after her flight was diverted amid the UAE-Iran conflict, shared a series of strong opinions on social media about stardom, box office success and “fake PR machines.”On Friday, Ameesha took to X and posted several tweets criticizing what she described as “perception-building games” in the industry.
“Call yourself a star only after you make history at the box office.”
The actress initially addressed the negativity from YouTubers and trolls, saying that stars should not feel affected by criticism.“Never feel bad or upset with some negative YouTubers who always wake up with negativity and criticism for all the stars. We as stars should feel happy for them instead of being affected… after all, by talking badly about us, their kitchen is working,” she wrote.Ameesha then shifted her focus towards actresses who, according to her, call themselves “superstars” without having big hits at the box office.“Don’t call yourself a star unless you’ve done any kind of work that creates history and box office havoc. Until then stop playing PR games calling yourself a star. Sorry but this is the harsh reality,” she posted.
“Doing two mediocre films a year doesn’t make you a star.”
The Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai actress also claimed that many actresses today have not done even a single solo film despite touting themselves as stars.
“A lot of female actors who haven’t done even a single film in their career yet call themselves stars. By doing two average films a year and by being on some sets, you don’t become a star. All you become is an actor who is part of projects,” Amisha wrote. She also commented on the changing box office landscape and questioned actresses who allegedly use PR teams to project themselves as major stars.“Most actresses who haven’t even had a single film in their career, where one film of theirs has grossed Rs 200 crore at the box office, pay their PR teams to call themselves No. 1 and No. 2? Like really? It’s 2026 and not 2000. Today Rs 100 crore is nothing,” she added.
Amisha cites the success of ‘Gadar’ and ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai’.
Ameesha Patel also shed light on her own filmography while talking about stardom and box office records.“A star only becomes a global star when he achieves huge success across the world,” she wrote, before adding: “Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Gadar 1 or Gadar 2…
“Ek nahin par 3 is the biggest single film as a heroine. She received the highest demand in all the three films she did.”The actress also mentioned that these films remain among the biggest hits in the co-stars’ careers as well.
‘Jadar 3 It will create chaos in the theatres
Ending her post on an optimistic note, Amisha also raved about Gadar 3 and predicted massive box office numbers for the series.“Gadar 3 is definitely coming and Jab Aiji, Main Hungama Mach Jayega Theater.
“With the love of the audience and God’s blessings, Rs 500 crore is just the minimum number at the box office for a brand like Gadar,” she wrote. She also promised that the upcoming part will be mounted on a much larger scale with more ‘dhamakedar’ script.
Amisha Patel was recently stranded in Oman
Amisha’s statements come soon after her recent travel ordeal. The actress was reportedly stranded in Oman for almost 24 hours after her flight was diverted due to escalating tensions between the UAE and Iran. She was traveling with DJ Chetas and producer Kunal Goomer at the time.
