Even as it prepares for a potential sale, Casey Wasserman’s The Team is going bigger in the core sports representation category and acquiring another boutique agency.

The Westwood-based company has acquired agency Provisions Golf in its latest move into the creative category, she said Wednesday. The company represents professional golfer Grant Horvat as well as golf influencers Bryan Bros, both of whom have large followings on their YouTube channels, 1.7 million and 853,000 respectively.

Founders Joe Gilliland and Josh Morgan will join the team as SVPs. “Over the past few years, we have had a front-row seat to the evolution of golf, media and the creator economy,” Morgan said. “It’s been special to see creators bringing new audiences to the game and connecting with fans in a more personal and authentic way.”

“Joe and Josh have a deep understanding of where golf, media and creative-led properties are headed,” said Michael Jones, Executive Vice President and Creative at The Team. “This strengthens our representation business by expanding our position in digital golf and enhances our ability to help talent move beyond traditional representation into greater opportunities across content, products and live experiences.”

Jason Rahn, Head of Global Talent Representation at The Team, added, “Golf’s creators are redefining how younger audiences consume the sport, and Provisions is best positioned to help top talent drive this evolution forward. Together, we will also leverage our industry-leading golf event management, representation, and brand advisory businesses to maximize crossover opportunities for our joint clients.”

The latest purchase was made possible because the team (rebranded from Wasserman in March) is based in the same building, where suitors made an initial bid to open the books to buy the assets. In April, talent agency United made a non-binding offer to move forward with the auction process, as did WME mogul Patrick Whitesell’s startup WIN along with several other companies.

In addition to its focus on sports and creatives, The Team is also home to a prominent music agency group created following its 2021 acquisition of Paradigm’s music division, as well as production management company Brillstein, a marketing services unit and more properties operating in 70 cities around the world.

Founder Casey Wasserman made the surprise move to put his namesake company up for sale in February, following the departure of the two artists after his 2003 correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell surfaced in the Justice Department’s Jeffrey Epstein documents. Wasserman, along with key stakeholder Providence Equity Partners, is fielding offers on whether to dismantle the team or sell entirely to a single suitor.
