Israel issues evacuation warning; One person was killed and 4 injured in Lebanon strikes

Beirut: Israeli raids on southern Lebanon killed at least one person and injured four rescuers on Sunday, the Lebanese Health Ministry said, as Israel continued its attacks on the country despite a fragile truce in its war with Hezbollah. In separate statements, the ministry said that a raid on Arabsalim killed at least one person and injured three, including a child, and another raid on Srifa injured five people, including four rescuers from Hezbollah’s Islamic Health Committee. She added: “The Ministry renews its condemnation of these repeated attacks, and recalls what is stated in Article 19 of the Geneva Convention regarding the necessity of verifying the safety of medical facilities from any danger resulting from attacks in conflict areas, while what is happening is exactly the opposite.”

Today, Sunday, the Israeli army issued new warnings to evacuate villages located outside the area it occupies in southern Lebanon. The warning covers more than ten villages and towns, including several villages in the Nabatieh region, which is located north of the Litani River, and south of which Israeli forces are stationed. The warning included Arabsalim and Srifa.Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported a series of Israeli strikes across southern Lebanon, including in towns not mentioned in the evacuation warning.

Since April 17, a fragile ceasefire has been in place between Israel and Lebanon, which was intended to stop violence between the armed group Hezbollah and the Israeli army.On Wednesday, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to strike Hezbollah “beyond the yellow line,” which defines the area of Israeli control. “Any threat, anywhere, against our communities or our forces – including beyond the Yellow Line and north of the Litani – will be eliminated,” he said during a visit to Israeli forces. The text of the ceasefire gives Israel the right to act against “planned, imminent or ongoing attacks”
