Man says he got job responses after changing surname to ‘Singh’ on resume: ‘Three emails in 24 hours’The man said in the video that he applied for hundreds of roles to no avail before conducting his personal experience. “I applied for 300 jobs and never got called back, nothing,” he said.Frustrated by the lack of response, he decided to test whether his name affected his chances. He created a modified version of his resume, with only the main identifiers changed. According to his account, he used the commonly used Hindi surname “Singh” while keeping the rest of his order mostly similar.“I decided to create a fake resume, change my last name to ‘Singh’, different email address, different job qualifications, but all in the same line, same everything,” he said.He claimed that the result was immediate. Within a day of submitting the revised applications, he began receiving responses from employers. “I’ve received three emails within 24 hours.”

The video has gone viral, especially amid the recent debate in the US, where MAGA supporters have claimed that foreigners, especially Indians, are replacing Americans in their jobs. Conservative “America First” supporters claim that this is happening because of the overuse of H-1B visas and the perception that Indian workers are willing to work for wages lower than those of the average American. They claim that employers prefer to hire these workers as cheaper labor, and regulate job opportunities and hiring practices accordingly.

Social media reactions:

  • Another episode of something that never happened
  • He needs to hire a lawyer and take these companies to court. This will only force them to change their ways.
  • You don’t understand.. ethnic groups stick together and employ their members..
  • The H1B onslaught, along with the DEI programs of the 2000s, was a major blow against middle-class/head-of-household/nuclear-family Americans.
  • Ok, who owns and manages these companies? If it’s owned and operated primarily by white people, that technically means white people are discriminating against other white people, right?
